Román is an assistant professor in the educational leadership department at Montclair State University. His research focuses on faculty learning and development regarding issues of racial equity. He also has experience designing and facilitating workshops to support faculty in developing equity-minded competencies. His current projects focus on understanding how race operates in doctoral education socialization, the academic job market, hiring, and tenure and promotion. His research appears in the Journal of Higher Education, American Educational Research Journal, Teachers College Record, Review of Higher Education among others.
